Message from the Principal
Dear Parent and Guardians,
Welcome to John E. Steinbeck Elementary, “Home of the Ponies.” Nestled in eastern Salinas, Steinbeck offers Transitional Kinder through 6th grade general and special educational classes. At our prestigious school, your child will learn how to become a productive 21st Century global citizen and develop to be a lifelong learner. Here at Steinbeck, your child will be exposed to the rich tradition of solid student centered programs, strong academic curriculum, and a safe, conducive learning environment.
Our staff will nurture your child’s mind and spirit through multi-tiered systems that support an equitable education. Our teachers are prepared to provide effective instructional strategies that will enrich student lives with multi-cultural educational experiences. Teachers will deliver challenging and rigorous lessons that drive our future generations to think critically, be creative, communicate and collaborate within the classroom and lead the way to achieving higher educational learning goals that will in turn prepare them to give back to society.
I also urge parents and guardians to be involved with our school community. We offer many ways for our parents to be empowered at Steinbeck Elementary. There are plenty of spaces available in our school’s District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), School Site Council and are well known Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Parental involvement is a vital and an essential integral process for our school to thrive! I am extremely honored to be your school’s principal! Go Ponies!
Ms. Ruiz
